Denmark "Hans Knudsen Instituttet"

HKI work together with municipalities to solve special challenged citizens to find a job. HKI is a social-economic cooperation with a working fund. This means that the entire economic surplus the company generates is used to develop new methods and increase efforts to give every citizens a place at the labour market. HKI have more than 100 years of experience to integrate citizens with all kind of physical, mental or social handicaps into the labour market.

Mission • To build a bridge between the labour market and people with physical, mental or social handicaps.

Vision • "Everybody have a right to get a job"

Values • We put the citizen in the center and work on humanism based on the following values: increase values, possibilities, dialog, equal dignity, care with the thought.

Target groups

HKI primarily work with citizens with complex issues that combines unemployment with social/personal problems such as problems related to misuse of alcohol or drugs, bad economy or not been able to find a place to live.

Workshops

HKI runs several workshops that are used to develop the citizens´ skills, resources for internship and education. They also have in-house shops open to the public where you e.g. can buy a bicycle or get the one repaired you have. The main parts of the workshops are driven on normal commercial terms. The workshops produce and deliver products to private and public companies on market conditions. The shops and workshops have both trained craftsmen/staff and social workers. All the shops and workshops use only the newest equipment.

The workshops are:

Carpentry: train with woodwork – often furnitures and cabinets for public offices and institutions

Office and Ict: train to do clerk work and lighter office work

Bicycle shop:

Graphic and design:

Catering:

Iron and metal.

For all the workshops it applies that, if you are capable to manage, it will lead to a examined certification as trained craftsman – either in-house or for the more able at a technical college. For more information see webpage "hki.dk"
