Denmark "Game Library"
We got motivated by the "Game library" at the school "Die huit" in Blankenberge.
We had a wonderful day in the school in Blankenberge, where both the pupils and staff took the time to show us the school's spirit - a place where fun and a learning environment went together and where we as guest experience the respect between each other.
One of the things which inspired us was the "Game library" - an educational collection of games for social interaction both in the classroom and for borrowing.
It seems like a meaningful tool to implement at our school Ullerødskolen, because it has the same social thinking and benefit, which we are trying to strengthen for the pupils.
1. For pupils with autism it can often be difficult to find new ways of interacting with friends. To play a game with outer structure and rules, is often a good way of being together - especially for the youngest pupils.
The "Game library" increases the opportunity to learn new games in a group of friends, and experience a successful time together.
2. Often we meet families who want some advice how to spend time together with their child in a way without challenging or stress the child too much.With the "Game library" they can practice
age-appropriate games in the school, before the pupils borrow it, and present it at home.
In this way the pupils will have acquired a knowledge and a security, which basically will create a greater opportunity for success - for the pupils and their families.
Thanks for inspiration;
hopefully we can send you a picture of our own "Game library" at Ullerødskolen in Denmark soon.
