Positive Attitudes towards Self & School” (PASS)

In Thornfield House School, Northern Ireland, we increase pupil motivation through a range of support programmes. These programmes are part of an initiative we are prioritising this year called “Positive Attitudes towards Self & School” (PASS). The programme includes an initial survey of pupil attitudes to both school and self and identifies areas to focus on when attempting to improve pupil motivation and attitude. It also provides resources and strategies to help with our efforts and aims at increasing personal management and pupil ability to self direct.

We are at an early stage with PASS development but intend to roll the programme out where needed across the school. When the initiative is more established we will carefully monitor it benefits/effects and provide evaluative detail in our follow up analysis.
